Anthropic commits $100M to train 10,000 Claude engineers
Anthropic has launched the Claude Frontier Academy, a $100 million initiative to train 10,000 enterprise engineers by 2027 to help businesses successfully deploy advanced AI systems.
Anthropic is investing $100 million into a new training initiative called the Claude Frontier Academy. The program aims to address the shortage of skilled enterprise AI talent by training 10,000 Frontier Deployed Engineers by the end of 2027. The academy is launching with initial cohorts from major global organizations, including Accenture, Bain, Capgemini, Commonwealth Bank of Australia, Deloitte, McKinsey, Morgan Stanley, and Novo Nordisk. Classes will run in San Francisco, New York, and London.
The academy's flagship program is the Frontier Deployed Engineer Residency, which uses a hands-on learning model inspired by medical residencies. To participate, software engineers must be nominated by their employers and arrive with a specific Claude project to implement. The training begins with a multi-day, in-person program alongside Anthropic engineers, culminating in a graded practical exam. Passing this stage earns participants the Claude Resident Engineer badge.
After the initial phase, engineers enter a 12-week residency to deploy their designated Claude use case within their own companies, receiving ongoing support from Anthropic. A final assessment at the end of the 12 weeks awards successful graduates the Claude Frontier Deployed Engineer badge. Anthropic expects the first certified engineers to graduate in early 2027. This initiative builds on the existing Claude Partner Network, which has already issued over 175,000 certifications across 46,000 firms, with nearly 4,000 people completing its immersive Basecamp program.
For software developers and enterprise practitioners, this program shifts AI training from theoretical certifications to rigorous, project-based validation. Instead of just learning prompt engineering, participants must navigate real-world deployment challenges, including security reviews and systems integration. By embedding Anthropic's internal engineering standards directly into partner organizations, the academy aims to turn high-potential developers into specialized architects capable of moving complex agentic systems from experimental prototypes into active production.
