Creative AI startup Krea has showcased a preview of Krea 3, its next-generation foundation image model, alongside Krea Agents, a new platform designed specifically for agent-driven design workflows. Revealed during a live event, neither product is generally available yet, but they signal the company's shift toward deep agent integration and native editing capabilities. Krea 3 builds on the aesthetic foundation of Krea 2, a 12-billion-parameter single-stream Diffusion Transformer that utilized Grouped-Query Attention, gated sigmoid attention, QK-Norm, SwiGLU MLPs at 4x expansion, zero-centered RMSNorm, and 3D axial RoPE positional encoding.

While Krea 2 focused on style transfer and creative control, Krea 3 integrates fine-grained editing directly into the base model. This replaces separate pipelines like the current Krea Edit tool, which requires users to manually place up to four virtual lights or apply color hints. Meanwhile, Krea Agents moves away from the traditional node-graph canvas. Developed over three months, the platform uses frontier large language models, including Anthropic's models, to interpret natural language prompts, plan pipelines, and execute tasks. The system optimizes processing by caching upstream results and only rerunning downstream nodes when a user makes a change.

For creative practitioners and developers, the most significant aspect of the release is immediate integration via the Model Context Protocol (MCP) or API. The Krea MCP server allows external AI assistants like Claude, Codex, Cursor, and OpenClaw to interact with over 60 image and video models, including Flux, Veo, Kling, Nano Banana Pro, Topaz, Runway, Luma, and Ideogram. Developers can connect their tools with a single command, such as "claude mcp add --transport http krea https://api.krea.ai/mcp" for Claude Code. This setup allows agents to discover models, inspect schemas, upload assets, and manage generation jobs directly, turning Krea into an aggregation layer that connects coding environments with creative production.
