Google Launches Fairwind Program with Gemini 3.8 Flash Cyber
Google has launched the Fairwind Program, giving select partners access to its Gemini 3.8 Flash Cyber model to autonomously patch vulnerabilities and protect critical infrastructure.

Google introduced the Fairwind Program to help cybersecurity defenders proactively address digital risks. The initiative pairs Google's specialized Gemini 3.8 Flash Cyber model with its CodeMender harness. Together, these tools allow organizations to autonomously discover, verify, and remediate software vulnerabilities. Instead of spending weeks manually writing and testing code fixes, defenders can generate verified, deployment-ready patches in just minutes within their secure cloud environments.
The limited-access program is designed for critical entities, including national cyber authorities, core technology platforms, and infrastructure operators in sectors like healthcare, telecommunications, energy, and finance. To ensure responsible usage, Google requires participating organizations to adhere to strict operational standards. These rules restrict tool access to internal cybersecurity, incident response, and penetration testing teams, and mandate security measures like multi-factor authentication. Google currently has more than 650 participating partners globally.
For organizations outside the initial cohort, Google Cloud customers can still secure their codebases using CodeMender with publicly available models on the Gemini Enterprise Agent Platform, alongside AI Threat Defense solutions. Alongside the program's launch, Google announced that its total global cybersecurity funding through Google.org has surpassed $100 million. This includes details from the 2026 Google.org US Cybersecurity Impact Report, which highlights $36 million in funding dedicated to 35 cyber clinics. These clinics have provided free, hands-on security support to more than 1,250 hospitals, public school districts, and municipal utilities across the United States.
