xAI Launches Grok Bot AI Agents With Cloud Computers

On August 11, 2026, xAI introduced Grok Bot in beta, marking its entry into the autonomous digital labor market. Unlike traditional automation tools that require constant user oversight, these always-on AI agents operate on their own dedicated cloud computers. They can log directly into a customer's existing software, databases, and websites—even those lacking API or Model Context Protocol integrations—to complete complex, multi-step tasks independently. If a bot encounters a decision point, it pauses and waits for human approval rather than demanding constant step-by-step guidance.

Users interact with Grok Bots via desktop or iOS, with an Android application planned for future release. Practitioners can train a bot simply by performing a task once while the agent observes; the bot then saves the workflow as a routine to execute autonomously. Multiple bots can run in parallel, communicating with each other, sharing threads, and coordinating tasks within group chats. This setup allows teams to deploy bots for specialized roles, such as sales outreach, marketing campaigns, database maintenance, and software debugging.

Rather than selling Grok Bot as a standalone product, xAI is bundling it into existing premium subscriptions. The service is included for subscribers of SuperGrok Heavy, as well as Cursor Ultra at $200 per month and Cursor Teams Premium at $120 per seat per month. The Cursor Teams Premium tier also features centralized billing, a shared skills marketplace, usage analytics, and single sign-on capabilities. Enterprise customers are currently directed to a waitlist. This distribution strategy deeply integrates xAI's product ecosystem with Cursor's infrastructure, utilizing its download builds and onboarding flows.

The release of Grok Bot came the same week xAI launched Grok Imagine Image 2.0, which achieved a top arena ranking on August 8, 2026. For practitioners, Grok Bot represents a shift from simple text-drafting assistants to active digital teammates. According to xAI product team member Roman, earlier AI tools left tasks incomplete, but Grok Bot "can finish the swing" by placing finished work directly into the actual tools human employees use. At price points far below a human salary, these agents aim to take over repetitive operations and entry-level roles.
