  • 3 underrated Netflix movies you should watch this weekend (May 23-25)

Netflix is stacked with interesting movies, but they’re often not the easiest to find. Netflix’s algorithm might claim to understand your tastes, but does it? At times, it can feel like the streaming service hides the best stuff from you.

That’s where we come in. We’ve pulled together a list of three great Netflix movies that are well worth watching this weekend. Whether you’re looking for something scary or profound, this list should have you covered.

Need more recommendations? We also have guides to the best movies on Netflix, the best movies on Hulu, the best movies on Amazon Prime Video, the best movies on Max, and the best movies on Disney+.

    The Outrun (2024)

Saoirse Ronan is one of the greatest actresses of her generation, and The Outrun is all the proof you need. The movie follows a young girl who flames out of life in London and then returns home to her small Scottish town to deal with her alcohol addiction. As she comes to terms with her sober life and her family, she also forges a new connection to the natural beauty around her.

Ronan elevates what could be a fairly standard addiction drama into something far more fascinating than that, in part because she seems to understand all the ways her character is both fascinating and frustrating.

You can watch The Outrun on Netflix.

    Lion (2016)

A fascinating, heartbreaking true story, Lion follows a young boy who gets lost thousands of miles from home in India after staying on a train too long. As he struggles to survive on the streets of Kolkata, he’s eventually adopted by a couple from Australia.

Then, 25 years later, he (Dev Patel) uses Google Earth to find his way back to the town he’s from and reunite with the family he left behind. Lion is uplifting and heartbreaking in equal measure. Most crucially, it’s a story in which everyone tries their best to help those around them, even as they find themselves approaching the limits of what they can do.

You can watch Lion on Netflix.

    Talk to Me (2022)

A smart, genuinely original horror film, Talk to Me follows a group of teenagers who discover a hand that allows them to commune with the dead. What starts as a party game eventually becomes something much more genuinely horrific, as they realize just what kind of power they’ve been dealing with.

Anchored by a mostly unknown young cast filled with excellent actors and some fascinating visuals, Talk to Me feels like the rare horror movie that isn’t just trying to ape something that came before it. It was a major phenomenon among horror fans, and with good reason.

You can watch Talk to Me on Netflix.

  • 3 great free movies to stream this weekend (May 23-25)

Death still has friends at the theater. Final Destination Bloodlines, the franchise’s first entry since 2011, ruled the box office with a $51 million domestic opening. Thanks to good reviews and an impressive box office, expect more Final Destinations for years to come.

This weekend, Lilo & Stitch and Mission: Impossible — The Final Reckoning are the two biggest attractions for Memorial Day. If you can’t make it to the theater, there are plenty of free options on FAST services. One of our recommendations is Mission: Impossible — Ghost Protocol. Our other two picks involve basketball and college parties.

We also have guides to the best new movies to stream, the best movies on Netflix, the best movies on Hulu, the best movies on Amazon Prime Video, the best movies on Max, and the best movies on Disney+.

    Hoosiers (1986)

The NBA playoffs are in full swing. The unpredictability of the games means upsets are bound to happen. One of the greatest basketball upsets at the high school level is dramatized in Hoosiers. The late Gene Hackman stars as Norman Dale, a college coach who flamed out and gets to coach basketball again at Hickory High School.

The small Indiana town loves its basketball team but hates Coach Dale, who implements drastic disciplinarian measures in his coaching methods. However, Dale’s coaching and the return of star player Jimmy Chitwood (Maris Valainis) allow Hickory to experience a magical run in the 1951 state tournament. Hoosiers is the perfect underdog story and expertly captures the essence of small-town sports.

    Stream Hoosiers on Prime Video.

Mission: Impossible — Ghost Protocol (2011)

After the so-so reception to Mission: Impossible 3, Tom Cruise and Ethan Hunt needed a reset. Cruise brought in animation veteran Brad Bird to direct the fourth entry, Mission: Impossible — Ghost Protocol. The gamble worked, as the movie reignited the Mission movies and set the blueprint for future movies.

After being blamed for the Kremlin bombing, the IMF is disavowed, forcing Ethan (Cruise) to go on the run. To clear his name and restore the IMF, Ethan must team with other IMF fugitives to find those responsible for the bombing. Ghost Protocol leaned into set pieces and practical effects, highlighted by Cruise’s scaling of the Burj Khalifa, which might go down as his most memorable stunt.

Stream Mission: Impossible — Ghost Protocol for free on Pluto TV.

    S#!%house (2020)

Cooper Raiff understands young adults. Not since Richard Linklater has a new filmmaker captured the ethos of a coming-of-age film like Raiff did in S#!%house. (We’re going with the marketing title, but by all means, pronounce it with the swear words.) Homesick college freshman Alex (Raiff) struggles to adjust to his new life.

One night, Alex attends a party at the “S#!%house” fraternity and meets Maggie (Dylan Gelula), his sophomore residential advisor. Alex and Maggie spend the rest of the night together walking and talking as they form a genuine bond. Alex wants more in this relationship, while Maggie looks for the exit ramp. Don’t let the vulgar title fool you. S#!%house is all heart and a fantastic directorial debut.

  • 3 underrated Netflix shows you should watch this weekend (May 23-25)

Netflix is, by design, trying to overwhelm you with the sheer volume of stuff that you can watch. If you’re actually trying to watch something, that can make things difficult. It’s tough to tell the good from the bad or trust the streamer’s algorithm.

We’ve pulled together three wildly different shows that are all available to watch on Netflix. Whether you’re looking for comedy or drama or something a little bit hard to explain, we’ve got you covered with these great shows you can stream now.

Need more recommendations? Then check out the best new shows to stream this week, as well as the best shows on Netflix, the best shows on Hulu, the best shows on Amazon Prime Video, the best shows on Max, and the best shows on Disney+

Everybody’s Live with John Mulaney (2025-)

Everybody’s Live with John Mulaney is one of the oddest experiments that Netflix has produced to date. It’s also one of its best. The latenight talk show is stranger and more interesting than any you’ve likely seen. John Mulaney brings in a stable of guests, and they talk about a specific topic that may or may not be of interest to the celebrities on the panel.

They also bring in live callers who have stories related to the topic, and there’s a snack robot that brings people things to eat. Oh, and Richard Kind is there to be delightful. Everybody’s Live with John Mulaney is zany and unpredictable, but those are both core elements of its appeal.

You can watch Everybody’s Live with John Mulaney on Netflix.

    Dark Winds (2022-)

A brilliant twist on the modern-day cop show, Dark Winds follows officers of the Navajo Tribal Police as they investigate crimes on the reservation in the 1970s. As they uncover buried truths about their community and the darkness that festers within it, they have to examine their own lives and the secrets that they’ve tried to bury.

Dark Winds is a perfect combination of a conventional criminal procedural with something more specific and slightly stranger. Anchored by a brilliant lead performance from Zahn McClarnon, it’s a show that deserves more eyeballs.

You can watch Dark Winds on Netflix.

The Fall of the House of Usher (2023)

Loosely adapted from an Edgar Allan Poe short story, The Fall of the House of Usher is the most recent and most underrated of Mike Flanagan’s Netflix miniseries. The show is told largely via flashback and follows a wealthy family whose money was made in the pharmaceutical business as members of their family start dying.

As we learn more about the devil’s bargain that led to the wealth, we come to appreciate exactly what’s going on in this family and why every member seems to be dying in horrific fashion. Featuring plenty of solid scares and a cast filled with Flanagan regulars, The Fall of the House of Usher deserves a second glance.

You can watch The Fall of the House of Usher on Netflix.

  • 3 underrated HBO Max movies you should watch this weekend (May 23-25)

One of Warner Bros. bigger releases of the year finally arrives on HBO Max. Mickey 17, Bong Joon Ho’s sci-fi black comedy based on Edward Ashton’s novel, hits the service on May 24. One of the film’s legacies will be its box office disappointment. However, Bong remains a master of social critique, and Mickey 17 will find a new life on streaming once more people see it.

Mickey 17 is only one of the many movies on HBO Max. (Yes, HBO Max is coming back.) When you look past the homepage, you’ll find some underrated movies that are worth streaming. Our picks are a Final Destination entry, a Judd Apatow dramedy, and a twisty sci-fi thriller.

We also have guides to the best new movies to stream, the best movies on Netflix, the best movies on Hulu, the best movies on Amazon Prime Video, the best movies on Max, and the best movies on Disney+.

    Final Destination 5 (2011)

The year is 2025, and a Final Destination movie rules the box office. Is America back? Before Final Destination Bloodlines, the last entry in the franchise was 2011’s Final Destination 5. The fifth movie begins with its trademark premonition set on a suspension bridge.

Sam (Nicholas D’Agosto) saves his ex-girlfriend Molly Harper (Emma Bell), boss Peter Friedkin (Miles Fisher), and a few others from dying on the bridge. However, you can’t cheat Death in this franchise, and the Grim Reaper returns with a vengeance. Final Destination 5 plays the hits, but the twist ending provided an effective wrinkle to a tried-and-true formula.

Stream Final Destination 5 on Max.

    Funny People (2009)

Funny People is a fascinating movie in Apatow’s filmography. Excuse the pun, but Funny People is not Apatow’s funniest or best. It’s fairly flawed, but the performances from Adam Sandler and Seth Rogen continue to age rather well. After being diagnosed with leukemia, movie star George Simmons (Sandler) returns to stand-up comedy. While at a comedy club, George meets Ira (Rogen), a struggling comedian looking for his big break.

George decides to take Ira under his wing while also fixing the flawed relationships in his life. There’s a great movie in the first half of Funny People, as it focuses on an imperfect man grappling with mortality. Apatow just needs to cut some scenes out of the second half.

    Stream Funny People on Max.

    Companion (2025)

Released in January, Companion didn’t quite have the same impact as Barbarian. However, Drew Hancock’s sci-fi thriller had some fun moments in this twisty take on a robot movie. Iris (Sophie Thatcher) heads to a remote cabin for a weekend getaway with her boyfriend, Josh (Jack Quaid), and a few other friends.

The next day, Sophie finds herself covered in blood. What happened? Although the trailer spoiled one of the twists, I’ll refrain from saying anything. One of the guests is a subservient android designed to be a companion to another human. We’ll stop there and let you put the rest of the pieces together.

    Stream Companion on Max.

  • 3 great Hulu movies you need to stream this weekend (May 23 – 26)

Heading into the long Memorial Day holiday weekend, Hulu is adding The Last Showgirl, a film that went under the radar last year and it could have disappeared entirely if not for a fantastic performance by Pamela Anderson. That’s why it was an easy pick to be the first choice among the three great Hulu movies you need to stream this weekend.

Our other picks include one of Tom Cruise’s best Mission: Impossible films, which is timely since Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning is now in theaters. The final pick of the weekend is comedy/drama starring Jennifer Lawrence and Bradley Cooper just three years after their acclaimed performances in Silver Linings Playbook.

Need more recommendations? We also have guides to the best movies on Netflix, the best movies on Hulu, the best movies on Amazon Prime Video, the best movies on Max, and the best movies on Disney+.

    The Last Showgirl (2024)

Some industry observers believed that Pamela Anderson was going to get an Oscar nomination for her leading role in The Last Showgirl. While that didn’t ultimately come to pass, Anderson’s performance was very powerful and it changed perceptions about what she can do as an actress. Anderson plays Shelly Gardner, a showgirl who has starred in a single Las Vegas revue for three decades. Shelly dedicated her life to the show, even at the expense of her only daughter, Hannah Gardner (Billie Lourd).

However, Shelly is completely unprepared when she learns that the revue is closing in two weeks, and this isn’t the kind of job that sends its employees into a comfortable retirement. For the first time in years, Shelly is truly terrified about her future prospects, because being a Las Vegas showgirl is all that she knows. Taking that away from Shelly might destroy her.

Watch The Last Showgirl on Hulu.

Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol (2011)

Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol is probably the fourth or fifth best Mission: Impossible movie… but it’s still pretty great! Animation director Brad Bird made his live-action debut with this sequel, which puts the entire Impossible Mission Force under the gun. Kurt Hendricks (Michael Nyqvist) has framed the IMF for bombing the Kremlin, which is why Russian agents are after Ethan Hunt (Tom Cruise) and his entire field team, including Jane Carter (Paula Patton) and Benji Dunn (Simon Pegg). Officially, the U.S. has also disavowed and disbanded the IMF. Unofficially, Ethan still has some leeway to clear their names.

Ethan gets some additional assistance from William Brandt (Jeremy Renner), a man who is hiding some secrets of his own. Brandt’s fighting skills are far too advanced for someone who isn’t supposed to be in the field, and his connection to Ethan is something that’s haunted him. But before they can deal with that emotional baggage, they’ll have to work together to save the world from Hendricks’ plans to unleash a nuclear war between the United States and Russia.

Watch Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol on Hulu.

    Joy (2015)

The Silver Linings Playbook team of director David O. Russell, Jennifer Lawrence, Robert De Niro, and Bradley Cooper reunited in 2015 with Joy, a biopic about the creator of the Miracle Mop. Joy Mangano (Lawrence) is a put upon young woman who is not only supporting her kids, but also her mother, Terri Mangano (Virginia Madsen), her ex-husband, Rudy Mangano (De Niro), and even Joy’s ex-husband, Tony Miranne (Édgar Ramírez).

Joy’s invention leads her to QVC executive Neil Walker (Cooper), who helps her change her life when the mops become a success. However, Joy doesn’t get to have a happy ending at that point. There are members of her own family who try to steal her success out from under her, as well as some underhanded tactics from a business rival that may cost Joy everything she has.

    Watch Joy on Hulu.

  • 3 underrated Amazon Prime Video movies you should watch this weekend (May 23-25)

If you’ve ever scrolled through Amazon Prime Video for even a few minutes, you’re likely aware of just how deep their library is. That depth can be exciting, but it can also be anxiety-inducing, especially if all you really want to do is find a great movie to watch.

Thankfully, we’ve pulled together a list of three great movies available on Prime Video that are all worth your time. These movies have different vibes and represent different genres, but each of them is a reminder of just how many good movies are available on the streaming service.

We also have guides to the best new movies to stream, the best movies on Netflix, the best movies on Hulu, the best movies on Amazon Prime Video, the best movies on Max, and the best movies on Disney+.

    The Hurricane (1999)

Denzel Washington is one of the best actors of all time for a reason. The Hurricane remains one of his greatest and most unseen performances.

The film stars Washington as Rubin “Hurricane” Carter, a boxer who dreamed of winning the middleweight title and was then wrongly arrested for murder and sentenced to three consecutive life sentences. The film’s depiction of the way Black men, in particular, are demonized and villainized whether they’re guilty or not remains relevant even to this day.

You can watch The Hurricane on Amazon Prime Video.

Born on the Fourth of July (1989)

Telling the true story of Ron Kovic, an all-American teenager who enlists in the Vietnam War and then eventually becomes one of its more radical opponents, Born on the Fourth of July is a thoroughly American movie. Kovic’s story about a patriotic boy who becomes more and more cynical about his country and the war is a brilliant examination of the way Vietnam destroyed the trust of an entire generation of Americans.

Anchored by one of the best performances of Tom Cruise‘s career, Born on the Fourth of July is honest about the realities of war and also features some stunning, horrific footage depicting the conflict itself.

You can watch Born on the Fourth of July on Amazon Prime Video.

    Bernie (2011)

Loosely based on a true story, Bernie follows a beloved assistant funeral director in a small Texas town. When he befriends a prickly widow that nobody else likes, he eventually becomes totally ensconced in her world and her needs.

After she’s found dead and Bernie is charged with her murder, the residents of the town spring to his defense, and we come to appreciate how he wound up in this position. Anchored by one of Jack Black‘s best performances, Bernie is darkly funny from start to finish.

You can watch Bernie on Amazon Prime Video.

  • Universal’s $7 billion Epic Universe theme park opens today. Here’s what to expect—and the best rides for families and daredevils

After a yearlong COVID-imposed delay and a month or so of previews, Universal Orlando finally opens the doors on its Epic Universe Thursday.

The new theme park, which reportedly cost between $6 and $7 billion to build, is an escalation of the company’s WWE-like battle with Disney to attract theme park visitors in central Florida—and it’s likely to have an impact. (In truth, both companies are likely to benefit from the opening, as many families making the trip to Orlando will likely visit both parks.)

This is the fourth of Universal’s theme parks in Orlando and it’s certainly the largest by scale. Spanning 110 acres (with hundreds more available for future expansions), it embraces four key IPs, but each of the worlds is so rich, you’ll likely need at least two days to take them in.

Announced in 2019, Epic Universe has become a big enough threat that Disney has announced a major upgrade to its Orlando parks, part of a 10-year, $60 billion investment in parks and experiences.

With something so new, there are bound to be lots of questions. Fortune got a sneak peak at the park before its opening. If you’re thinking about a trip, here’s all you need to know (as well as suggestions on what you should ride).

    Where is Epic Universe located?

Epic Universe is about 2.5 miles to the southeast of Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure, as well as Volcano Bay water park and Universal CityWalk (all of which are in Orlando).

To transport visitors back and forth, Universal is running buses between the parks. Epic Universe also has its own separate parking area.

How much do Epic Universe tickets cost?

A one-day adult ticket will run you $139, while children will pay $135 for a single-day pass. (Florida residents do not currently get a discount.) A two-day ticket is also available for $116.50 for adults, or $112 for kids, but one of the two days must be spent in a park other than Epic Universe.

If you’re hoping to visit the park in its earliest days, though, you’ll need to get a multi-day pass (with only one of those days being spent at Epic Universe). Individual tickets won’t be valid for use until June 1.

What are the lands of Epic Universe?

The park’s layout is designed to let visitors enter a “portal,” which takes them to four different lands—with the hub, Celestial Park, acting as a fifth land. Note, however, that if you want to move from one land to another, you’ll have to “exit” the portal and then enter a new one. The lands are not connected to each other and there’s no way to walk from one to the other without going through Celestial Park.

    Celestial Park

This central focus features dining, shopping, and three attractions, a carousel, a dual-launch coaster and interactive dancing fountains. The Helios Grand Hotel is located in this area.

The Wizarding World of Harry Potter’s Ministry of Magic

Offering elements from both the Harry Potter and Fantastic Beasts franchises, this area will let fans explore the wizarding world in a Parisian setting.

    Super Nintendo World

This interactive Nintendo-themed world is loaded with familiar characters from Mario to Bowser and several rides, which range from family friendly to intense.

How to Train Your Dragon’s Isle of Berk

Explore the Viking village at the heart of the franchise (which has a live-action film coming out June 13). You’ll also be able to ride a dragon.

    Dark Universe

Universal brings old-school creatures—including Frankenstein, the Wolfman, and Dracula—into the modern era.

What are the best rides at Epic Univese for thrill-seekers?

Epic Universe is all about big experiences. And not only do its coasters give you an adrenaline rush, some of its dark rides (attractions where riders sit in guided vehicles) do as well. Not all rides are created equal, though. If you’re looking for a thrill, here’s what you’ll want to try.

    Stardust Racers

This dual-launching high-speed coaster is not for the feint of heart. The two coasters shoot off at the same time, zipping past each other and often over or under each other. It doesn’t look as intense as it is from the ground, but the 62 mph ride is no joke. If you’re familiar with the VelociCoaster at Islands of Adventure, you have an idea of what to expect intensity-wise.

Harry Potter and the Battle at the Ministry

You wouldn’t expect a motion simulator to rank this high on a thrill-seeking list, but Battle at the Ministry will rock you around a fair bit in every direction. You won’t be able to predict what’s next, which adds to the intensity.

    Monsters Unchained: The Frankenstein Experiment

If the addition of a motion simulator is surprising, then seeing a dark ride on this list might count as shocking. Universal calls this “the most chilling ride ever” and the marketing hyperbole is pretty close to the truth. Offering details would spoil the surprises, but this isn’t nearly as sedate an attraction as you might expect, given it’s built on creatures that are nearly 100 years old.

    Hiccup’s Wing Gliders

This outdoor rollercoaster offers some solid thrills, on par with Disney’s Big Thunder Mountain. Like Stardust Racers, it’s a coaster that seems a lot more sedate from the ground, but doesn’t skimp on the thrills. It’s the perfect coaster for people that aren’t up for the ludicrous speeds and turns of Stardust Racers, but still like some intensity in their rides.

What are the best rides of Epic Universe for families?

While many of Epic Universe’s attractions might be a bit much for youngsters or people who don’t enjoy thrill rides, there are still several options for a milder day at the park. If you or your party is not looking to get your heart pumping, these are the rides for you.

    Yoshi’s Adventure

The calmest ride at Epic, this one is made for kids. Slowly pass scenes from the Mushroom Kingdom in Super Nintendo World and take part in a scavenger hunt. See an egg? Press a button.

    Constellation Carousel

A carousel, located in Celestial Park, seems to be a staple at every theme park, but Epic Universe does things a big differently. The animals are spaced out a bit more, so it’s not as claustrophic as some merry-go-rounds. This ride also reverses course and goes backwards. It’s all done at a leisurely pace, though, making it fine for all riders.

    Fyre Drill

Arguably the calmest ride on How to Train Your Dragon—Isle of Berk, you’ll board a Viking ship and shoot water cannons at targets. (You’ll also likely shoot at other boats—and be the target of other guests as well, so expect to get soaked.)

    Mario Kart: Bowser’s Challenge

This Mario Kart-inspired ride has its share of twists and turns, but kids are still likely to enjoy it without getting too scared. The silliness of throwing virtual banana peels and shells at opponents is the main takeaway. Note that riders do wear headgear with special goggles, so if your kids can’t handle that, this might not be the ride for them.

What are the best hotels to stay at if I’m going to Epic Universe?

Three new hotels have been opened near the park so if your focus is solely on Epic Universe, you’ll want to stay in one of them. The crown jewel is the Helios Grand Hotel, which has a dedicated entrance to the park, along with a rooftop bar that overlooks the park. It’s ritzy and glamourous.

Stella Nova and Terra Luna are a bit further away, but only a five-minute or so bus ride. Both are clean and comfortable (and more affordable), but do lack the pizazz of Helios. If you choose to stay near the original parks, you’ll be facing at least a 15-minute bus ride through heavy traffic both ways.

  • Epic Universe, Florida’s newest major theme park in nearly three decades, is finally open—and Comcast executives are already thinking about expansion

Thursday marks the launch of the first new major theme park in Central Florida in nearly 30 years—and it’s a big deal for NBCUniversal, the state of Florida, and theme park lovers across the country.

Epic Universe is now the largest of the company’s theme park properties, spanning 750 acres (though just 110 acres have been used so far). The park features five themed worlds: The Wizarding World of Harry Potter—The Ministry of Magic, Super Nintendo World, How to Train Your Dragon—The Isle of Berk, Celestial Park, and Dark Universe.

It’s built to appeal to the teen/young adult crowd, whose childhood was built on characters like Hiccup, the hero of the How To Train Your Dragon franchise, Nintendo games, and Harry Potter, rather than Pooh and Mickey Mouse. It is heavy with intense rollercoasters and dark rides (attractions where riders sit in guided vehicles).

Tickets are already selling fast and Epic Universe is expected to be a top destination for tourists this year. And executives at Comcast, parent company of Universal, say they’re not planning to slow down the emphasis on theme parks—especially as people’s attention spans for screens, whether television or film, is harder to capture.

“The question always was how does that affect different parts of media,” says Mark Cavanagh, president of Comcast. “While I think we’re doing a great job navigating that … I think one of the fantastic things about the experiences business is that there’s no replacement for being here live. You put your phones down, you’re immersed and you’re experiencing all of this.”

Epic Universe is the latest theme park for Comcast, but other experiences are right around the corner. Later this year, a year-round Hollywood Horror Nights will open in Las Vegas, with other locations expected to be announced. Next year, the company will open Universal Kid’s Park in Briscoe, Texas. And in 2031, the company will open a theme park in the UK.

While Epic Universe is as new as a park can be, Mark Woodberry, chairman and CEO of Universal Destinations & Experiences, says his team is already thinking of what’s next there.

“This is the first step in an epic future,” he says. “There’s a lot of room for expansion. We’re already thinking about how that plays out. … New attractions [are] coming. New Intellectual properties [are] coming. [It’s] all part of our philosophy to grow our business by expanding our existing footprint.”

Epic Universe isn’t just a potential big moneymaker for Comcast. It could mean a big windfall for Florida as well. The park is expected to generate $2 billion for the state in its first year and create more than 17,500 jobs in year one, according to calculations by Dr. Sean Snaith, director of the University of Central Florida’s Institute for Economic Forecasting.

Snaith further estimated the Universal Orlando parks have generated an economic impact of $44 billion since 2019—and the company’s investment in building Epic Universe has had a nationwide economic impact of $11 billion so far.

But the stakes are highest, of course, for Universal. Last year, more than 75 million people came to Orlando, the vast majority of which were there for its theme parks. Disney lures more visitors, but Epic Universe could narrow the gap. Officials say the hope is between this and the company’s other parks, visitors will opt for a much longer stay to explore them all.

“If you’re a Harry Potter fan, you need to see all three parks. That really speaks to the one-week vacation,” says Woodberry.
