  • The Samsung Galaxy S25 FE could be here sooner rather than later

Good news, Samsung fans: it seems likely the Galaxy S25 FE will release before the end of the year. Samsung has released an FE (Fan Edition) of its main flagship every year since the Galaxy S20, with the exception of 2021. The news that the Galaxy S25 FE is on the way isn’t really news — it’s been leaked several times before — but SamMobile has now discovered the firmware for the US variant of the phone, assuaging worries that Samsung might skip this generation. Some fans feared that, due to the upcoming Galaxy S25 Edge, there might not be a Fan Edition in 2025.

According to SamMobile, the US version for the Galaxy S25 FE uses model number SM-S731U and firmware version S731USQU0AYDH. This doesn’t mean much on its own, but it’s a distinct identifier confirming a US model is on the way. If Samsung sticks to timing from years past, the Galaxy S25 FE is likely to drop sometime around September or October.

The Galaxy S25 FE is expected to run on Android 16 and One UI 8.0 and retain the same 6.7-inch size of the Galaxy S25 Plus. Some rumors have suggested the S25 FE might adopt a slimmer profile, but likely not as thin as the Galaxy S25 Edge. Other leaks point to a MediaTek processor, but there’s a lot of debate on that point with more recent tips suggesting the Exynos 2400e.

As for memory and storage, the Galaxy S25 FE will probably have either 8GB or 12GB of RAM and 256/512GB storage options. The battery capacity is anyone’s guess, although if Samsung opts for a silicon-carbide battery instead of traditional lithium-ion, it could offer significantly improved battery life in a smaller amount of space. Just remember: until Samsung makes an official announcement, likely sometime in July, all of these are educated guesses.

  • Google just gave vision to AI, but it’s still not available for everyone

Google has just officially announced the roll out of a powerful Gemini AI feature that means the intelligence can now see.

This started in March as Google began to show off Gemini Live, but it’s now become more widely available.

Before you get too excited though, at this stage at least, it’s only available on the Google Pixel 9 and Samsung Galaxy S25.

Up until now Gemini has been a little limited, albeit in an impressive way. It’s been able to understand voice, images, PDFs and even YouTube videos. Now, thanks to Project Astra, Gemini can see what’s on your screen too.

This means you can simply give the AI access to your screen and then ask questions about what’s going on for you and it will be able to understand and answer.

Perhaps even more usefully, you can share your rear camera with Gemini to talk about what you’re seeing in the physical world too.

Sound familiar? Yup, this is very similar to the tech Apple Intelligence was being teased as getting last year. Yet Apple has been rumoured to be struggling with this release and we may have to wait until iOS 19, or longer, before we see it arrive on iPhones.

While the release is limited right now, it will soon be available to all Gemini Live subscribers using Android devices.

How to get Gemini Live activated on your phone

One way to open this is to launch the Gemini overlay and select the “Share screen with Live”.

Another way is to launch Gemini Live then select the screen share icon.

In either case there is a small red timer icon at the top of the screen to show you’re being viewed and listened to by Gemini Live, that you can tap into for more details.

The whole experience is a bit like being on a call with a real person – blurring the lines between human and AI ever further.

  • Samsung may bring Now Brief to more Galaxy smartphones

Samsung’s popular new AI tool, Now Brief, might soon make its way beyond the Galaxy S25 to older models like the Galaxy S24. While Samsung hasn’t officially confirmed this yet, recent software clues suggest the company could roll out the handy AI assistant to a wider range of Galaxy devices.

X user MEMETCAN88 (via Android Authority) discovered that Now Brief was accessible on a Galaxy S24 phone by way of the activity launcher when using the One UI 7 beta. Further, additional users (via SamMobile) were able to access it with phones like the Galaxy S23, Galaxy S10, Galaxy Z Fold 6, and Galaxy Z Flip 6.

Interestingly, Samsung’s support page mentions: “Now Brief feature requires Samsung Account login. Service availability may vary by country, language, device model, apps. Some features may require a network connection.” The open-ended wording around “device model” suggests Now Brief isn’t intended to remain exclusive to just the latest Galaxy S25.

Adding fuel to speculation, early versions of Samsung’s upcoming One UI 7 update for the Galaxy S24 have already shown hidden references to Now Brief. These features aren’t functional yet, but their mere existence signals Samsung might be preparing older models for Now Brief support.

Now Brief works like your personal daily assistant, right on your home screen. Each morning, it greets you with personalized updates including weather forecasts, calendar events, and even health or sleep data collected from connected wearables. Throughout the day, it sends helpful reminders, alerts about expiring discounts, or notifications about upcoming meetings, all neatly tailored to your routine. By evening, it compiles a short recap summarizing your day’s highlights, simplifying everyday tasks without needing to dig through multiple apps.

Samsung hasn’t offered any clarity on the matter just yet, but Galaxy S24 users eager to access Now Brief’s convenient, AI-powered briefings could soon get their wish—likely as long as their phones meet Gemini Nano’s requirements.

  • Samsung is paying big bucks for your old phone when you upgrade to the S25

Out with the old, in with the new. It’s a spring cleaning mantra, but also a pretty good practice when upgrading to one of the newest, best smartphones. Right now you can not only get regular trade-in credit on the top three best Samsung phones (the S25 series) but also get up to $900 in enhanced trade-in credit. This deal, which lasts through March 30, could save me $600 if I give up my Pixel 8 Pro. Tap the button below to play with the system yourself or keep reading to see our analysis of what you could get, as well as more info about the fine print on Samsung trade-in credits.

    SEE YOUR TRADE-IN VALUE

How much Galaxy S25 trade-in credit is your phone worth?

First of all, let’s look at the basics about what you could get from Samsung. With no trade-in at all you can save up to $300 on your new phone. For example, you save $100 on unlocked 256GB version of the standard Samsung Galaxy S25, taking it down to $760 from $860. We see that this is a real deal, too, as Best Buy’s S25 offer requires you to lock in the phone to a carrier to get the same price.

Next, what if you have a trade-in? That’s where it gets tricky. Samsung will give you money back if you have an eligible phone or tablet. The best brands to use for trade-in credits with Samsung are Samsung, Apple, and Google products as there are clear markers about what you’ll get in return for those products. Note that each phone gives a different amount of credit. My Pixel 8 Pro fetches $350 for a standard Galaxy S25 as well as the Galaxy S25 Plus, though some devices will get different amounts from the two. Storage of the purchased (or traded-in) phone does not seem to matter. Meanwhile, it could save me $600 on the Galaxy S25 Ultra.

What’s your phone or tablet worth in trade-in credit? Tap the button below to check for specific products, but here’s a chart for some of the most popular phones and tablets of today:

    Phone / Tablet S25 Trade-In S25+ Trade-In S25 Ultra Trade-In
    Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 6 $500 $600 $700
    iPhone 15 Pro $500 $500 $520
    Google Pixel 8 Pro $350 $350 $600
    Samsung Galaxy Tab S9+ $276 $276 $276
    iPad Air (5th Gen) $176 $176 $176

As you can see, some devices ramp up steeply in trade-in credits depending on what phone you’re buying but others stay relatively flat. It’s always a bit interesting to see that the value of your device depends on what you’re buying.

Finally, take care to make sure your device is in good condition or you could get $0 from your trade-in. Samsung considers a device to be in “good condition” if it turns on, has a working charging port and battery, and has no cracks — though there is a special button to get the value of a cracked phone. You’ll also need to remove all activation locks from your phone, remove your accounts from it, and factory reset the phone, plus make sure it is not on a banned list. Additionally, I checked the Samsung trade-in fine print to check for any quirks; make sure there is no “bulging” of the screen or phone body near the battery, as that indicates the battery may be swelling and can get your phone rejected. If everything looks good, you can safely trade-in your device for a new Samsung S25 line phone via the button below:
