  • Visible launches a new phone plan that will have you rethinking your carrier

Visible by Verizon just launched a new plan that will have you considering whether it’s time to switch carriers or not. The average person pays roughly $150 a month for their phone bill, but what if you could drop that down to as little as $25 per line while keeping unlimited data, spam detection, and so much more? It would be hard to pass up, and that’s exactly what Visible has planned.

Visible by Verizon offers lower-cost alternatives to traditional phone plans. It has three options, starting at $25 per month for the Visible tier, $35 for the Visible+ tier, and $45 for the Visible+ Pro tier. All three plans offer unlimited data, talk, and text on 5G networks, automatic spam detection, and even smartwatch service for an extra $10 per month. Each plan also includes unlimited hotspot data, international calls to the US and Mexico, and several other perks.

The newest addition to the lineup is the Visible+ Pro plan, and it’s kind of mind-blowing. It includes smartwatch service as part of its standard lineup, so you don’t have to pay extra for that. You can also stream video up to 4K on the go, and your hotspot is three times faster than the Visible plan.

It also includes calling to 85 different countries and texting to more than 200 countries at no added cost, two Global Pass days per month, and $10/month savings on Verizon Home Internet.

On top of all of that, you have 24/7 access to actual humans through the customer care team, and if you lose your job, the plan will cover up to three months of your bill while you search for a job. These perks are tough to match on traditional phone plans, and when you can pay $450 for an annual subscription ($90 less than paying monthly), the savings just continue to add up.

  • Verizon users will soon be able to text via satellite with the right phone

A while back, Verizon announced emergency satellite texting functionality for users with the Google Pixel 9 and Samsung Galaxy S25 series devices. Now a variant of that service is available for those same users: non-emergency texting. It will allow customers to “send text messages to any other customer device via satellite when outside the reach of terrestrial cellular networks.”

“We are committed to powering the lives of our customers. Verizon’s network is America’s largest and already covers 99% of the places where people live, work and play. This expansion of satellite texting capabilities is a testament to our commitment to ensure customers stay connected wherever they are,” said Joe Russo, EVP & President, Global Network and Technology. “We know our customers expect more and we continue to innovate for them.”

There are times when you might need to send a message to someone in an urgent, but not emergency situation; for example, if you’re stranded on the side of the road in an area with weak coverage. Verizon’s new service would allow you to send your location and a message to a friend or family member so they could come pick you up (or call a tow truck.)

Unfortunately, the service is still limited to only two series of phones, and iPhone isn’t among them. That leaves thousands of customers unable to take advantage of satellite texting, emergency or otherwise, but Verizon hopes to expand the service to a wider range of devices in the future.

Updates will begin rolling out today and will continue over the next couple of weeks. It isn’t clear whether this will require an update to your device or not, but keep an eye out for any incoming system updates.

  • Thinking of switching to Verizon’s 5G home internet? It’s now a little less tempting

Verizon has increased the discount price of its 5G Home Plus internet service without actually raising its base price, making the offer less enticing for some new customers looking to switch internet service providers.

According to a post on Reddit (via Android Authority), the major cellular carrier reduced the discount price of its 5G Home Plus internet plan from $35 to $25. This means that new customers will have to pay $55 a month if they switch to Verizon. That’s a $10 increase from the $45 monthly rate that pre-existing customers are paying for the Home Plus plan. However, the regular price of Verizon’s 5G Home Plus remains the same at $80 a month.

The one thing that makes the new discount price worth it for new customers is that they get a free subscription perk of their choice via Verizon billing, as a couple of commenters have pointed out. This means new customers can choose between Netflix and Max bundle, Apple Music, or the Disney+ bundle. Each subscription service is about a $10 value.

The discount change comes one month after Verizon outlined an $8 increase on Mobile Protect plans for customers using four lines or more, meaning they will pay $68 a month for their phone insurance instead of $60. That price change goes into effect on March 27.

A $10 increase in discount price of Verizon’s 5G Home Plus internet service may not seem like much on the surface, especially because of the free subscription perk that comes with it, but in reality it decreases the value of the service. It devalues it even more when the company charges more for it without saying so in the first place.
