Adobe Names Anil Chakravarthy as New CEO

Adobe has promoted Anil Chakravarthy, the president of its customer experience orchestration business, to the role of chief executive officer. The appointment concludes a six-month search to find a successor for outgoing CEO Shantanu Narayen, who announced in March that he would step down. Narayen will remain with the company as chairman and will initially work in tandem with Chakravarthy during the leadership transition.

The decision brings unexpected executive shifts. Many industry observers anticipated that David Wadhwani, Adobe's president of creativity and productivity, would secure the top job. Wadhwani oversaw the digital media business segment, which generates approximately three-quarters of Adobe's total revenue. Following the decision, Wadhwani announced his departure from the company on LinkedIn. Meanwhile, Chakravarthy steps up after previously managing the development of key products such as Adobe CX Enterprise, GenStudio, Brand Visibility, and the CX Enterprise Coworker tool.
